Fish of the month – Trevally

Conditions were fairly good for our first summer comp, the swell was basically nothing, not a spec of weed in the water and the wind wasn’t too bad starting with a bit of an easterly breeze and swinging around in the arvo, what more can you expect from a summer weekend

I don’t know how I did it but I managed to keep my streak going and took another win for the season to get myself off to the perfect start. For the comp I decided to fish some much unknown ground to me in hopes to get some intel for our state completion in the cape to cape. Even though I had no idea where I was or what I was doing I still managed to weigh in a half decent bag of 7 species, 2 heaviest and 2.5kg to stay undefeated for the season.

Bronwyn Gaston was able to steal back her throne by taking the ladies win with an awesome bag of 5 species 4 heaviest and 4kg of weight. Unfortunately there’s a rumor going around that Brony may have lost a fish of a life time that just couldn’t be stopped on the day, oh well maybe next time she can get her revenge.

In the Mini-juniors section Maddie Gaston once again was the winner for day with a bag of 2 species, 2 heaviest and 815kg. Looks like Maddie is setting up a charge already for that season champion trophy. There’s also another rumor going around that she can already cast further then her mother to get her bait out far where those mighty Dart live.

As we all know Trevally was fish of the month and we were expecting a big fat one to full out of Kiwis bag, which one did! But it wasn’t as big as Clive Powells who had a great effort of 752 grams to finally stop Kiwi from hogging the prize, well done Clive. Kiwi may have missed out on the fish of the month but he certainly had some ripper fish in his bag still. A awesome size dart a bit over a kilo and a monster of a Tailor just over 4kg.

Absolutely an awesome effort from everyone who participated hopefully we can see even more people at the next one and some even better fish!
