Beach Report September 2017
The final comp of the season was upon with yet another close finish for the men’s champion. Chris Gaston was only a few point behind Rob Meneguz and he was on a mission to stop Rob from taking his first men’s beach champion trophy. Conditions were absolutely perfect and probably the best we had for the entire season, what a way to finish a great season!
I myself managed to take out the men’s section with a rather impressive bag of 8 species, 3 heaviest and over 30kg of weight. Thanks to Chris Gaston showing me a few things and providing awesome burley slicks I managed to catch a fish of a lifetime, a 20kg plus Samson fish land based.
Bronwyn Gaston was our ladies winner weighing a great bag of 4 species, 4 heaviest and 5.46kg. After dominating the entire season it’s safe to say Bronwyn has taken out yet another Ladies championship.
Georgia Gaston won the juniors section and may have taken the juniors championship to with a bag of 2 species, 2 heaviest and 1.13kg of bag weight.
It was great to see Cruze Marsden to make a return and win the mini-junior section with 1 species, 1 heaviest. Hopefully we can see Cruze getting stuck into a few more come for the new season ahead of us.
Tailor was the comps fish of the month and Rob Meneguz took home the prize with a beautiful fish a bit over 1.5kg.
Overall we had 10 bags weighed in which wasn’t the best turnout considering the great conditions we were given. Hopefully we will see a few more bags in the new season and some new members fishing the comps.
