December dive report

Social Events

It has been another busy two months for our section. We hit the bowling alley last month and had a great time. We had three tebowlingams who played two games with Steve Sullivan emerging triumphant with the highest overall score. The bowling was followed by a meal and a few drinks at Paddy’s Irish Bar in Joondalup.

The divers’ Xmas Party was hosted by Ben and Karen again this year (thanks guys) and as always we had a fantastic evening. We never tire of your cocktail dice game. Commiserations to poor Graham who scored the picture frame in the Kris Kringle, don’t forget to add your photo and re-gift it next year.

philA few of the divers joined the Power Boaties for their Xmas Mandurah Lights weekend again this year. Friday night we ventured out onto the canals to view the amazing displays. Saturday night turned a little weird after most had gone to bed, with a certain vintage diver (and others) getting quite frisky with Lorraine’s Xmas Tree, those pictures sure will make great Xmas cards for next year.

Club Dives

The first of the club shore dives took us to Woodman Point Ammo Jetty. The weather was fine and for once the jetty wdiversasn’t too crowded. We had six divers and two volunteers for shore support. A friendly seal delighted a couple of lucky divers with most seeing the amazing seahorses feeding on the pylons. The dive was followed by a BBQ brunch in the park.

The next shore dive is at Mettam’s Pool in Marmion on 19th December @8am unless the weather is inclement in which case we will relocate to the The Coombe in Mosman Park. Be sure to let us know if you are participating so we can keep you informed of any changes.

The charter dive scheduled for 16th January is now fully booked so fingers crossed the weather is kind to us and a little less windy in January than it has been of late.

PADI Scuba Training

Our resident PADI dive instructor has been in demand this past month with a number of courses being purchased for Xmas. The first Open Water courses will commence in the New Year and we are eager to welcome and support our new divers. The section has a wealth of experience to offer our newbies enabling them to gain experience and continue to learn, in a safe environment.
Open Water Dive Courses are significantly cheaper than most places in Perth at just $345 but they are only available at this price to club members. If you are already qualified but a little rusty we can also offer refresher courses for just $90. Graham can be contacted on 0435574494 or by emailing glhindley@hotmail.com

Have a wonderful Xmas and safe diving over the holiday season.
