Release weights are now required by law to be carried by any boat fishing for bottom fish in waters off Western Australia.
The release of marine fish has become increasingly important to recreational anglers. Fisheries regulations and management tools such as size limits, bag limits and closed seasons as well as a stronger conservation ethic has resulted in more fish being released.

Midweek Boat Fishing Competition Rules
OCEAN REEF SEA SPORTS CLUB MIDWEEK FISHING COMPETITION RULES
1. MIDWEEK FISHING CAPTAIN. The Midweek Fishing Captain has complete charge of monthly Midweek Fishing Competitions.
2. MONTHLY MIDWEEK FISHING PROGRAMME. The competition year commences in October of each year.
Monthly midweek fishing competitions are held on the third Wednesday of each month. Fishing is from both boat and beach. 3 competitors are required to sign on to constitute a competition.

OCEAN REEF SEA SPORTS CLUB BEACH FISHING COMPETITION RULES
1. BEACH FISHING CAPTAIN. The Beach Fishing Captain has complete charge of all Beach Fishing Competitions.
2. BEACH FISHING PROGRAMME. The competition year commences in October of each year.
Beach fishing competitions are generally held every second month throughout the year. Normally they are conducted on the Saturday and Sunday of the third weekend in the month, although some exceptions do occur due to other events in the calendar. Refer ... >> full...
