Cockburn Sound crabbing reopens

Fisheries Minister Norman Moore today (18th October 2009) announced the reopening of Cockburn Sound to commercial and recreational crab fishers from December 15 following a three-year closure.

 

Mr Moore said crabbing in Cockburn Sound was banned in 2006 to allow overfished stocks to rebuild and ensure the long-term sustainability of the fishery.

Busy Bee and Club opening day

The club Opening day is 11th October and to ensure the club is looking it's best there is a Busy Bee day on Sunday 4th Oct 8.30am to 12pm to deal with;
 
1. Cutting all the dead branches off the palm trees and pruning other trees as necessary.
 
2. Cleaning off all the white patio chairs and tables.
 
3. Pressure cleaning all patio / paved areas.

Rottnest proposed dive site moorings

The Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) is currently evaluating the establishment of
designated dive sites within the Rottnest Island Reserve.  They are seeking inputs
(on the attached form).

A preliminary survey conducted by RIA Rangers over the 2008/09 summer identified
a number of dive sights attracting interest by scuba divers both privately and
commercially. A total of ten dive sights were identified. Of these ten sites, two were
identified as being the most popular; they are Crystal Palace to the south ...

Letter against proposed new fishing fees

Attached is a suggested letter forwarded out by Boating WA, which relates to the proposed new Fishing Fees, which you may like to circulate to your Members.

It has been requested that people amend / sign the form and submit it to their local Member to register support against the proposed fees.
